āBehold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and dine with him, and he with Me.ā ā Revelation 3:20 (NKJV)
Bobby was fourteen when the storm came through. The tornado sirens wailed, the sky turned green, and the family rushed to the old cellar out back. Everyone made it except Grandpa.
Heād gone to the cellar earlier that morning, locking the door from the inside for some peace and prayer time. But when the storm hit, they pounded and shoutedāāGrandpa! Itās us! Open the door!ā
No answer. He was in there all right, but heād removed his hearing aid to focus on the Lord, unaware they were outside.
They survived by Godās graceāsheltered under a concrete slab in a neighborās ditch. But Bobby never forgot what it felt likeā¦to be locked out while someone was inside.
Reflection: Now flip the story.
What if itās JesusĀ standing outside the door, knockingāwhile weāre the ones inside? Distracted, deafened, too busy praying for blessings without letting Him in?
The greatest tragedy in life isnāt a storm that hitsāitās a Savior we ignore. Heās not banging down the door. Heās knocking. Gently. Patiently.
Revelation 3:20 isnāt just poeticāitās urgent. Heās not speaking to strangers. Heās knocking on the door of people who already think theyāre safe. Churchgoers. People like us.
If we listen, truly listen, weāll hear the knock. And if we open, Heāll come ināand everything will change.
Don't let Jesus be the One left standing outside.
