Why Do People Reject Facts for Political Agendas, and Why Won’t They Cry Out to God in the Great Tribulation?
I’ve wrestled with this question many times. Why do people ignore the truth when it’s right in front of them? Why do they cling to political agendas contradicting facts, even when proven wrong? And why, amid God’s judgment, will people refuse to repent and cry out to Him? The answer is both spiritual and sobering.
1. The Deception of the Heart
“The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; who can know it?” – Jeremiah 17:9
People reject truth because their hearts are deceived. When someone is emotionally invested in a political ideology, they don’t just believe in policies—they make them part of their identity. If the truth contradicts their beliefs, accepting it would mean admitting they were wrong, and pride refuses to allow that.
Look at Pharaoh during the plagues of Egypt (Exodus 7-12). He repeatedly saw undeniable evidence that God was real, yet he hardened his heart. This happens when people elevate their own will above God’s truth. They become blind to reality.
2. A Strong Delusion
“And for this cause, God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” – 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12
God does not force people to believe lies, but when they repeatedly reject the truth, He allows them to be given over to deception. We see this today with people who are more willing to trust politicians, media, and cultural narratives than they are to examine the facts.
It’s like the Titanic. The ship was sinking, and some people refused to believe it. Even as the water rose, they still held onto the illusion that everything was fine. Their fate was sealed, not because they didn’t have a way out, but because they refused to acknowledge the truth.
3. The Great Tribulation: When People Still Won’t Repent
“And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give Him glory.” – Revelation 16:9
Why won’t people cry out to God if the world is falling apart? The answer is chilling—many will become so hardened in sin that instead of repenting, they will curse God. They will see the truth but hate it because it exposes their rebellion.
Imagine a man drowning in the ocean, refusing to grab a lifeline because he insists he can swim on his own. Pride will drive people to destruction. The Tribulation will be a time when people’s choices are fully revealed—those who reject Christ will double down in their rebellion, even in the face of judgment.
4. What Can We Do?
This is why we must proclaim the truth now. The time to wake up is before the storm hits. We can’t change people’s hearts, but we can preach the Gospel urgently, warning them of the coming judgment and calling them to repentance while there is still time.
“Now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of Salvation.” – 2 Corinthians 6:2
People may reject the truth now, but that doesn’t mean we stop speaking it. The watchman must warn (Ezekiel 33:1-9). The blood is on their hands if they refuse to listen—but if we stay silent, it’s on ours.
Let’s sound the alarm while we can.
