A Sermon for This Hour
Introduction: America is in a crisis, but it's not new. Today's political lies, corruption, and moral decay aren't some new breed of wickedness. They're the same sins that have plagued humanity from the beginning—wrapped in modern technology, packaged in smooth rhetoric, and paraded as virtue.
Ecclesiastes 1:9 warns us: "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun."
The same tactics of deception used by Pharaoh, Jezebel, and Herod are still used by today's politicians and power-hungry elites. They manipulate, lie, and oppress, thinking they can escape judgment. But history—and the Word of God—proves otherwise.
Let's examine the unchanging sins of politics, their biblical parallels, and the inescapable truth: no one gets away with them.
1. Deception and Lies – The Politician's Favorite Weapon
Biblical Parallel: The Serpent in the Garden (Genesis 3:1-5)
The very first recorded deception was Satan twisting God's words to Eve: "Did God really say…?"
That same spirit of deception is alive in Washington, state capitals, and local government halls. Politicians rewrite history, distort truth, and call evil good and good evil (Isaiah 5:20). They gaslight the American people, making them question what they see with their own eyes.
Modern Example:
They say: "We're protecting democracy," while silencing voices and censoring truth.
They say: "We're for the little guy," while getting rich off insider deals.
They say: "Trust the science," but the science conveniently shifts based on their agenda.
Scripture:
Proverbs 12:22 – "Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight."
Psalm 101:7 – "No one who practices deceit shall dwell in my house; no one who utters lies shall continue before my eyes."
Matthew 24:4 – "Take heed that no man deceive you."
Illustration: It's like a magician's trick—while they distract with one hand, the real work is done with the other. Politicians have mastered this. But just like Pharaoh's magicians in Exodus 7:11-12, their tricks will be swallowed up by the truth of God.
2. Corruption – The Buying and Selling of Power
Biblical Parallel: Judas and 30 Pieces of Silver (Matthew 26:14-16)
Judas was one of the twelve, walking with Jesus, witnessing miracles—yet he betrayed the Son of God for a payout.
Politicians today sell out their country, their morals, and even the unborn for campaign donations, power, and influence. They make backroom deals with special interests, allowing corporations and foreign governments to dictate policies that harm their own people.
Modern Example:
Leaders who pledge to protect life but pass laws that promote death.
Lawmakers who claim to be 'for the people' but take bribes from lobbyists.
Officials who say they stand for freedom but enforce policies that strip rights away.
Scripture:
Micah 7:3 – "Their hands are skilled at doing evil; the official and the judge demand a bribe, and the powerful dictate what they desire—they all conspire together."
Proverbs 17:23 – "The wicked accept bribes in secret to pervert the course of justice."
Matthew 6:24 – "You cannot serve both God and money."
Illustration: A boat with a small hole won't sink immediately, but eventually, the water will rise and take it under. Corruption works the same way—leaders who think they can "handle it" eventually drown in it. Just ask Judas—his 30 pieces of silver cost him everything.
3. Oppression of the Righteous – Silencing Truth
Biblical Parallel: King Ahab and Jezebel (1 Kings 21:1-16)
Ahab wanted Naboth's vineyard, but Naboth refused to sell his inheritance. So what did Ahab do? He pouted like a child, and his wicked wife, Jezebel, orchestrated a scheme to accuse and kill Naboth falsely.
Today, we see the same spirit of Jezebel working to silence truth-tellers. Those who stand for righteousness are labeled as "radicals," "bigots," or "domestic threats." The government weaponizes its power to crush dissent and erase biblical morality from society.
Modern Example:
Parents speaking out at school boards are labeled extremists.
Pastors preaching biblical truth are threatened with lawsuits.
Whistleblowers who expose corruption mysteriously disappear.
Scripture:
Isaiah 59:14 – "Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands far away; for truth has stumbled in the public squares."
Amos 5:10 – "They hate him who reproves in the gate, and they abhor him who speaks the truth."
John 15:18 – "If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first."
Illustration: A dam can hold back water for only so long. Eventually, the pressure builds, and the truth will break through. The same will happen with every suppressed truth in America—God will not be mocked.
Conclusion: No One Gets Away With It
Politicians and power-hungry elites think they are untouchable. But history proves them wrong. Pharaoh drowned. Jezebel was thrown down. Worms ate Herod. Judas hung himself.
Their stories ended in judgment. The same will happen today. No one gets away with it.
🔴 Final Scriptures:
Galatians 6:7 – "Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap."
Luke 8:17 – "For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light."
Revelation 21:8 – "But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."
America needs to wake up, and the church needs to rise up. Truth must be spoken, for judgment is coming, and God will settle all accounts.
Altar Call: If you've been deceived, it's time to repent. If you've been complicit, it's time to stand for truth. If you've been oppressed, take heart—justice is near.
🙏 Lord, give us boldness to speak the truth. Expose the lies. Bring down the corrupt. And let righteousness reign. In Jesus' name, Amen.
